Chris Nickson is a Kiwi Emergency Physician and an advanced trainee in intensive care (CICM), currently working at TheAlfred ICU in Melbourne, Australia.
Together with Dr Mike Cadogan he runs the Lifeinthefastlane.com website and is committed to Free Open Access Meducation (FOAM). An avowed ‘Oslerphile’, he is also co-creator of iTeachEM.net, a website dedicated to the art, science and fun of medical education.
He is particularly passionate about the intersection of emergency medicine and intensive care, and is on the editorial board of EM Critical Care. Originally a biochemist that lost his way, he is fascinated by poisons and venoms, and trained as a toxicology registrar at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. These days he is mostly interested in figuring out how to get better at blowing bubbles while looking after critically ill patients… wherever they are.
“No bubble is so iridescent or floats longer than that blown by the successful teacher” – Sir William Osler
