Kat Evans is a Specialist Emergency Physician in Cape Town at Mitchells Plain Hospital, and faculty at the University of Cape Town. Born in Kenya, grew up in South Africa & prior to becoming a doctor she had a background in prehospital care. She spends her time looking for solutions to the EM challenges caused by a quadruple burden of disease, reflecting the evolving landscape of the city (substance abuse, obesity/metabolic, HIV/TB & trauma/tox) When she is not busy “at the coal face” she dedicates a large portion of her time to #badEM where she is the co-founder & author – Brave African Discussions in Emergency Medicine www.badEM.co.za
